Whilst doing a bit of tidying up in the garden I discovered that last years parsley had started sprouting again. Parsley is reasonably hardy, and these plants had been covered by leaves from a nearby tree which seems to have protected them during the heavy snow.

Parsley is a biennial herb which means that it flowers in it’s second year. It’s likely to bolt pretty quickly come the spring, and once that happens there’s not going to be a lot of parsley to pick, as all the energy goes into producing flowers rather than leaves. Hopefully by that time, this years plants will be big enough to start harvesting from.
